Behind Korea's News (Korea Beat)

Living here in Korea gets you two types of news - the sanitized version of Korean Herald News and the other English-language newspapers here. You never get the juicy, scadalous type of news like what you would only hear from a close Korean friend or a fellow Filipina who's married to a Korean.

Well, I stumbled upon this site - http://koreabeat.com/. "Korea Beat" advertises itself as 'The only blog dedicated to Korean news articles translated into English.' Cool! I have spent hours browsing over news articles such as "Daegu Child Struck and Killed in Front of School", "Excuse Me Waiter, There’s A Fly In My Beer" and a lot more news of suicides, beatings and other stuff that you don't get to read in the English newspapers. It really is an eyeopener and for once I don't feel like I have no idea what's going on around me in this Land of the Morning Calm.

I've already bookmarked it on my Yahoo bookmarks.
